Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation treatment that gently sloughs away dead surface skin cells and creates a smoother, softer appearance. It helps thicken your collagen, a protein in your skin that is abundant when you are young, and makes your complexion even and texture taut. As we age, our collagen production declines—along with the quality of skin’s appearance. During the treatment, microcrystals remove months of built-up dead skin cells, allowing your skin to glow like never before and improve its texture.
You may consider microdermabrasion to:
Eliminate wrinkles
Remove blackheads and white heads
Reduce pore size
Vanish brown spots
Reduce acne scars
Treat areas of hyperpigmentation
Brighten dull skin

Avoid excess heat sources like saunas, steam rooms or direct sunlight.

Don’t pick or peel at scabs, blisters, or loose skin; it can cause scarring.
Avoid direct sunlight for 2-3 weeks.
Anticipated Reactions:
Purging is a common response to incorporating new active ingredients in your skincare routine. Active acids boost cell turnover, bringing acne to the surface, often from lesions that formed up to 90 days prior. While purging can be discouraging, it's a sign that the product is working. Patience is essential, as purging usually subsides after a few weeks.
Tips for Managing Skin Purging:*
Ice inflamed breakouts for 2 minutes twice daily.
Stay consistent with your routine and use spot treatments.
Avoid picking at your skin; use pimple patches if needed.
Stay positive; remember this phase is temporary.
-
Benefits of Microdermabrasion:*
Manual exfoliation removes dead skin cells, improving dullness, texture, and signs of aging.
Treatment Frequency:*
One session results in softer, smoother skin; 6-8 sessions recommended for cumulative benefits like reduced scarring and fine lines.
Duration of Effects:*
Initial results last 2-4 weeks, requiring regular maintenance visits.
Post-Treatment Sensation:*
Skin may feel temporarily sensitive but should feel softer and smoother afterward.
Suitability for Older Skin:*
Beneficial for aging skin; deeper wrinkles may require alternative treatments.
Collagen Stimulation:*
Evidence suggests microdermabrasion may promote collagen production, especially with suction devices.
Recommended Post-Care Products:*
Use gentle, hydrating products such as CeraVe, Cetaphil, and LaRoche Posay.
Pain Level:*
Generally non-invasive with mild sensations reported, similar to skin polishing.
Makeup Application:*
Makeup can be applied 24 hours post-treatment.
Post-Treatment Precautions:*
Avoid direct sun, excess heat, and other exfoliants for about a week. Wear sunscreen (minimum 30 spf) every day.
Day One Following Microdermabrasion:
It is normal for your skin to appear slightly tender and red. Should you experience any "rug burns," apply a small amount of the ointment provided by me. While these "rug burns" may be uncomfortable, they signify areas that will demonstrate significant improvement upon healing. To facilitate complete healing, keep these areas moist with the ointment for approximately three days. Adhere to the skin care regimen as instructed.

What is a chemical peel?
Chemical peels remove the outermost surface of your skin, helping to reduce visible signs of aging, acne and discoloration while revealing brighter, smoother skin. Peels range from mild to intense in strength, with some professional-grade formulas available for home use while others are only available at a salon, spa or clinic.
Side Effects:
Professional peel side effects can include redness, dryness, itching or irritation as well as swelling, tightness, peeling or scabbing. With 2-3 days, skin may look flaky or tan as the outermost surface peels off to make room for more radiant, new skin. You may also notice temporarily more pro-nounced discoloration or age spots as they rise to the skin’s surface before getting sloughed away.
My skin isn’t peeling. Did the treatment work?
Absolutely! Some people don’t “peel” when they get a chemical peel, while others experience delayed peeling. To get an accurate assessment of your results, just feel your skin: if its texture changes post-treatment, it’s working!
Why does my hyperpigmentation look darker post-peel?
Peels cause pigmented cells to rise to skin’s surface and slough off, which can make hyperpig-mented areas look darker in the first couple days after treatment. After that, pigmentation will begin to even out.
When can I wear make-up again?
24 hours post peel.
